My Top 3 "Must Reads" for May:

As you know, I love to read.. especially non-fiction books that will benefit my well-being in any way. Here are my top 3 picks that I've read recently that I would recommend to anyone and everyone (thank you for recommending the "Boundaries" books btw). Here they are and why I love them (all available on amazon.com):

1.) "Boundaries in Marriage" by Dr. Henry Cloud and Dr. John Townsend:

All of the "Boundaries" books are amazing.. I just especially loved "Boundaries in Marriage" because I am married and want to establish a strong foundation very early on.. But they all teach you how to overcome your weak tendencies during confrontation and to take a stand in any relationship, whether is be a colleague, family, spouse, friend, etc.  Here is part of the description: "Having clear boundaries is essential to a healthy, balanced lifestyle. A boundary is a personal property line that marks those things for which we are responsible. In other words, boundaries define who we are and who we are not. Boundaries impact all areas of our lives: Physical boundaries help us determine who may touch us and under what circumstances -- Mental boundaries give us the freedom to have our own thoughts and opinions -- Emotional boundaries help us to deal with our own emotions and disengage from the harmful, manipulative emotions of others". With practice, I think these books have the power to help any person under any circumstance. 

2.) "The Eat Clean Diet Recharged" by Tosca Reno:

This book focuses on the concept that it's all about 80% diet, 10% exercise, and 10% good genes to look and feel the best you can.. which I totally agree with. The "diet" that this book suggests is purely eating clean.. which most Americans don't know how to do. Reno says "that eating clean encourages a lifestyle approach of exercise and a diet plan of unprocessed, whole foods like fruits, vegetables, whole grains, lean meats, and void of artificial ingredients, preservatives, 'chemically charged foods,' sugars, saturated fat, and trans fat". There are so many suggestions, meal plans, tips, and recipes in this book showing you how to achieve a healthy and balanced lifestyle. It wouldn't hurt anyone to read this. 

3.) "The Five Love Languages" by Gary Chapman:

I recommend this book to every single human being..  Even if you aren't in a relationship, it helps you to figure out who you are and how you express love.. so that you will be better prepared for when you do enter a relationship.

"The main idea behind this book is that just as people have unique personality preferences, we all have unique preferences for what we find satisfying and motivating when it comes to love. Your love language is the way that you most feel loved and cared for. The problem is most people love how they want to be loved, and that doesn't tend to align with how their partner wants to be loved. So, you have to learn to speak your partner's love language. The author also believes that focusing intently on speaking the love languages will rekindle relationships where people don't even seem to like each other anymore.

The relationship expert who wrote the book arranges the book into the five love languages, and provides quizzes to help you determine which language you are: Words of Affirmation, Acts of Service, Receiving Gifts, Quality Time, and Physical Touch".

I just drove from Austin to Phoenix in one day and am so thankful I had this audio set on hand.. Mr. Dyer is very insightful and inspiring.. I learned so much in this lil car trip. If you ever have a long way to go, get this set!:
